History of Our Church
The Full Story
The Church of Saints Raphael, Nicholas & Irene was established around 1967 and is situated at 29 Forbes Street, Liverpool, NSW 2170, to serve the growing Greek Orthodox and the greater Orthodox community in the area. Our church is part of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia
Our parish is named after three holy martyrs deeply beloved in the Orthodox tradition, Saint Raphael, Saint Nicholas and Saint Irene.

Over the decades, the parish has been led by dedicated clergy, Father Christos Vergos served a long tenure (1967–2017), Father Dimitrios Papaikonomou (2017-2019) and Father Prochoros Anastasiadis (2019-2022). The current parish priest is Rev. Fr. Asterios Zouriakas. Faithful committees and a committed community have been instrumental in progressing the church as well.

Another important ministry that has emerged is The Feed (also known as The Ark of Love), which started in early 2020 under the Ladies Philoptochos, with the blessing of Bishop Bartholomew. Serving the Liverpool community in multiple locations, this service has continued to provide meals to the homeless and needy, several nights a week, even during lockdowns, becoming a visible expression of our faith and compassion.
