His Eminence’s Name Day
Σεβασμιώτατε Αρχιεπίσκοπο Αυστραλίας Κ. Μακάριο
On Sunday the 19th January the Greek Orthodox Community of Australia celebrated His Eminence’s Name Day at Le Montage Reception Lounge. At this memorable event that was attended by 1,289 patrons which included both laity and clergy, His Eminence Archbishop Makarios announced an exciting set of projects that will secure the future direction of our faith. These included the redevelopment of the Archdiocese site in Redfern that was presented by two notable architects, Mr Chris Tsioulos and Mr Angela Candalepas, the relocation of St Andrew’s Theological College to a site adjacent to St Basil’s Age Care Centre at Lakemba and a number of building programmes which includes the facilities on Bribie Island, to name a few. These are definitely exciting times and we pray for His Eminence’s vision to become a reality. We wish Him well in His endeavours.
At this event a volunteer from each parish across Australia was nominated by the parish priest and was awarded an Honorary Diploma of the Order of “The Christ-Loving” (ΦΙΛΟΧΡΙΣΤΩΝ) by His Eminence Archbishop Makarios.
Our worthy recipient was Mrs Irini Mihaletou. We rejoice in her acknowledgement and congratulations to her for she has served our parish with love, commitment and undying generosity over the years. God bless her and may she continue to serve our parish for many more years. We thank His Eminence for acknowledging Mrs Mihaletos and the other volunteers and we wish Him
