OXI Day!

Yesterday after the Sunday Liturgy, we commemorated the day during the second world war when the leader of Greece, Premier and former General Metaxas, rejected the Italian ambassador to Greece, Emmanuele Grazzi's, ultimatum at about 3.00 am on 28 October 1940 demanding Greece allow Axis forces to enter Greek territory and occupy unspecified "strategic locations" or face war. It is a very proud day in our patriotic and rich history, the day when we said 'Oxi' (or 'No') to occupation and we thank you for commemorating such an important day with us.

We heard many poems from our wonderful Greek School students and we thank all those who attended.
